What's Our Story
About
At the top of Grand Hill, in the picturesque village of Mont Vernon, New Hampshire, people have gathered to worship in our beautiful space for over 100 years. Beneath the diffused glow of stained glass and amidst the warmth of honeyed wood, we sing, we pray, and we grow.
Abbie Velez
As a lifelong musician, Abbie never thought she'd find herself in a church talking about faith but, as cliche as this might sound, God moves in mysterious ways. "It is the absolute joy of my life to be able to share the Love of God with others."
Many, many years ago, a three-year-old in a diaper climbed atop a piano bench and picked out the tune to her mother's favorite soap opera, Dynasty. That three year old was me, and after that performance my parents quickly got me to a piano teacher, hoping I might one day become a musician, and here I am: a musician. Yet we all have more to give. After twenty years of playing and singing in the Sacred sphere, I was asked to give a message to my congregation. Shaking in my boots, I gave it my all while God whispered in my heart, "this is what you're supposed to be doing, girl!" I didn't say no, but I did ask a lot of questions. Why me? Are you sure? Maybe think again because God ... what do I even have to offer? But I do have a lot to offer -- all of us do as unique and beloved creations of God! So here I am now: ministering to the Mont Vernon Congregational Church through word and song. After three years of walking this path I believe my relationship with God, my gifts of creativity, empathy, love of learning, and music work to encourage and deepen the faith of my church community.
Vision
We celebrate community openness and outreach to all by spreading the love of Jesus Christ. We want to be a place of welcoming warmth and open caring for others.
Of all the commandments, which is the most important?
"The most important one,” answered Jesus, “is this: Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.’ The second is this: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no commandment greater than these.” Matthew 22:36-39
