Children’s Ministry

Children’s Ministry

Mission:  To share stories from the Old and New Testament with our children, teaching about God, Jesus and His love for each one of us.
In Action: We will use the Bible to learn about our history as Christians and our calling from Jesus to love one another.  We will look at the different stories from the Bible and identify how these stories apply to us today.

Sunday Mornings:

Ages 4 through 11 All-in-One Sunday School – Children begin in worship with their family and the children come downstairs with their teacher after the children’s time portion of the service.

Kid’s Club

…sharing God’s love and compassion in our community and beyond.

Welcome to the Mont Vernon Congregational Church Kid’s Club.  This service oriented program is geared toward kids in 3rd through 6th grade.  We gather once a month to be the hands and feet of Jesus in our community and beyond.  Why?  Because that’s what God calls us to do.  Some examples of projects we’ve done this year include:  Fruit Bouquets for individuals in our community that needed a little sunshine on a dreary winter day, Dried Soup Mixes offered to attendees of the monthly community supper, homemade dog bones to provide some love and care for our four legged friends, gathering supplies for a craft bucket that was donated to a shelter that provides a temporary home for families that have lost their home.

Mission: To teach the 3rd through 6th graders how to share God’s love and compassion in our community and beyond.

In Action: Using Biblical references we will look for a variety of service projects that touch on different interests of the children to show that there is not just one way to share God’s love and help their community, but many.  Whether it is a love for crafting, reading, baking, caring for animals, etc, there are many ways to impact our world.

Value Identity Purpose

God has a plan for each one of us which makes us very important people indeed.

This junior high youth group focuses the book “Do Hard Things” by Alex and Brett Harris.  This books encourages us to be part of a rebelution, but don’t worry,  it’s a rebellion against low expectations.  This is an extraordinary group of teens who are capable of so much more than our society thinks.  So how do we go beyond? God has blessed all of us with a gift so now how do we use our gifts/talents for His glory?  These are ongoing discussions and once a month we gather to play games and discuss these topics together.

Mission: Work with 7th and 8th graders in building confidence and understanding in how valuable they are to God, how to strengthen their identity with God and to identify their God given purpose or gift.

In Action: Using Bibles, discussion, games, outreach, service projects and videos we will try to uncover the gifts/talents God has given each one of us and support one another putting these talents in action for God’s glory.
